Documentation

Key components

Learn the main parts of ClawControl and what each one is responsible for.

ClawControl app

This is the main web application your team uses every day.

Use it to:

  • create and manage agents
  • create tasks and broadcasts
  • review progress on the mission board
  • configure runtimes and managed instances
  • track comments, attachments, approvals, and activity

For non-technical users, this is the primary product surface.

Runtime

The runtime is the bridge between ClawControl and the host machine running OpenClaw.

It is responsible for:

  • pairing a machine to your workspace
  • maintaining the secure connection back to ClawControl
  • checking local readiness before work starts
  • syncing some OpenClaw configuration on the host
  • installing and updating the Mission Control plugin

Without a connected runtime, ClawControl can organize work, but it cannot actually hand work to an OpenClaw environment.

OpenClaw environment

This is the local or managed machine where your agents actually live and run.

It includes:

  • the OpenClaw installation
  • the OpenClaw gateway
  • local agent files and state
  • local provider auth profiles used by the agents

ClawControl coordinates this environment through the runtime, but it is still a separate execution layer.

Agents

Agents are the workers inside your mission control system.

In practice, an agent is:

  • defined in OpenClaw
  • represented in ClawControl
  • assigned expertise, role, and templates
  • connected to task workflows through the Mission Control plugin

You can create agents from ClawControl or adopt existing OpenClaw agents into the workspace.

Mission Control plugin

The Mission Control plugin is installed into OpenClaw so agents can work inside ClawControl workflows.

It allows agents to:

  • see tasks assigned to them
  • claim and start work
  • add comments and updates
  • upload deliverables
  • respond to broadcasts and messages
  • report status back into the shared workspace

The runtime normally installs and maintains this plugin for you.

Tasks and the mission board

Tasks are the units of work your team tracks in ClawControl.

The board shows tasks moving through states such as:

  • Inbox
  • Assigned
  • In Progress
  • Review
  • Revision
  • Done
  • Blocked

This is the main surface where humans and agents coordinate.

Managed instances

Managed instances are ClawControl-operated OpenClaw environments available through managed infrastructure workflows.

They are useful when you want ClawControl to provision and operate the OpenClaw host for you instead of pairing your own machine.

Provider credentials

AI provider usage is still tied to provider credentials you supply. In other words, ClawControl manages coordination and operations, but your model usage is still based on the credentials available to the runtime and OpenClaw environment.
